A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭
Atlanta, GA

I have read that typically lupus does not cause damage to the joints like arthritis does and simply causes inflammation. However, sometimes lupus CAN cause damage after a long period of time. (It’s pretty vague). Has anyone gotten any tests (MRI’s or something) that showed they had damage to their joints? I am debating on whether to get an MRI done. Also, I have heard of necrosis of the bone from long term steroid use being a possibility and was wondering if anyway had experiended that.

How long were you on them before that happened, if you don’t mind me asking?

@A MyLupusTeam Member thank you, that’s extremely helpful. My doctors said she would order me an MRI if pain persisted so I think I will do so and that way I can rule avascular necrosis out. How long were you on steroids before this started happening? Are they able to give you treatment that helps?
