I have joint pain. Increase with the change of weather.
It seems to me that is not enough information to go on for a definitive diagnosis of Lupus. I know there are lots of differing opinions regarding what determines Lupus, but everything I have read says it takes more than just a positive ANA. The general population exhibits a fairly high percentage of positive ANA result and that is not enough to get to that decision, even with photosensitivity, that quickly. Get to another rheumy and request further testing.
It's getting more prevalent that the test for ANA is a "ANA reflex" which will automatically test further if the ANA comes up positive. Doesn't sound as though the doctor ordered ANA with reflex or it would have shown other levels that can point to the Lupus direction, if, indeed, the results indicated.
Good luck, and you deserve an answer.
Are you seeing a rheumatologist? That should be your next step. They will want to run a lot more blood labs to determine what is going on.
Then start treatment. Have you seen a rheumatologist?
I am being treated for fibromalgia for the past 7 years. I am frustrated. Afraid and very concern with my health. I do not want to take medications if I dont need it. All this is new for me. No. My reumath dr didn't run more blood work. He just said that because Ana is positive I have lopus. And because I am sensitive to the sun eaither. I feeling very under the weather . Thank you
Did the rheum. run any blood work of his own? To my knowledge, there isn't a blood test for fibro. You might want to get a 2nd opinion.
