The blood bank should have never accepted your blood!!!!

Last year the blood mobile was at my grocery store where I shop and the tech asked if I wanted to donate. I told him I don’t think I can because I have Lupus. He told me that I was right that I can no longer give blood!!!!

Makes me wonder if that blood bank accepted your blood who else are they accepting with tainted blood!!!!

I was reading an article about Lupus patients and why we cannot donate blood or our organs. It stated that our body takes longer to replenish our blood (shoots now I can’t remember brain fart) has something to do about how Lupus affects our bone marrow where your body reproduces our blood.

Something to the fact that is why we are susceptible to becoming anemic because....shit shit shit....anyway our blood is lacking certain qualities.

Sorry I can’t remeber and I found that article by accident I don’t know if I can find it again to reread it.

Although we are not contagious but our blood and organs could cause the recipient to get Lupus!!

I asked my doctor that question because I was on the organ donor list and was a registered organ donor on my drivers license . My doctor told me to have it removed.

We cannot donate organs because our Lupus antibodies and any other autoimmune diseases we have reside in our organs and we would essentially give our diseases to another person, so they would not pass the tests performed on them prior to transplant.

We can't donate blood not only because of medications we take but because our bodies cannot remanufacture blood the same way and at the same rate as everyone else. In some of our cases, our blood is defective.

We need every bit of the blood we have since exhaustion is one of our main enemies we fight every day.

Angelfish, Gina and Nancy are correct. Having Lupus makes you have a hard time replenishing your blood for most of us. Also we carry lots of antibodies that would not be good for those already compromised needing a transfusion. Our organs can also carry these antibodies. NO we should not donate both for our health and for others.if you look on the sites of many blood banks it is not listed as a deterrent to donate but if you share this with them and they do their job you will not be donating. This also a plus to donating organs and plasma. If you do donate in the screening of your donated blood, organ or plasma before placed in the supply it will probably not pass the screening. Most would get sick trying to donate. Also I personally would not wish what Lupus has brought to me on anyone.
