Researching this, I see that some organizations like the Red Cross will accept blood from lupus patients if they are not anemic and not on certain meds, however, others will not. I think it's probably best that we not donate, though it's generous to want to do so. We are at risk for anemia if our disease becomes more active, so we probably should preserve our supply!๐
I don't know but my doctor advise me not too.
No. You can pass lupus on to them. I believe this is now I got it by blood transfusion. No one in my entire family has it
Gv not only was I advise not to I was shown exactly what happens when you donate blood with lupus somebody will get that blood and contract lupus so it you can get lupus through blood
Hi Donna,
I know people with lupus who donated plasma. This article tells us why donating blood and plasma is discouraged if our lupus is active like @A MyLupusTeam Member stated. I hope this answers your question.
