I finally have to get a rheumatologist and am having difficulty finding one. I would much prefer a female doctor. I will go as far south as York and as far north as Augusta. Trying to stay east. I sent a referral request to my PCP, but I’m nervous because I hate the psych she sent me to. Please help 😭
Write down any questions that you may have and voice all concerns. You may go through several doctors but you will know which one is right for you. Do a lot of research on them. Praying that you find the right one who will treat you and not just the illness.
I can understand that. I hope you fins someone you are comfortable with.
I live in Maine and still go to my rheumatologist in Charlotte, NC because I had difficulty finding one in Maine. Boston is not too far if you really liked that one.
@A MyLupusTeam Member a woman I work with goes there and said her doctor was great and one of the female PAs is amazing. I don’t usually mind the gender, but I had such good luck with my last rheumy listening to me that part of me feels like it’s because she’s a young woman. Her male older boss dismissed me so. I’m willing to give them a call for sure!
I go to Rheumatology Associate's in Portland, ME...but, I have a male doctor. I've had good luck with them. Although, I loved my first Rheumatologist the most. Unfortunately he retired! Give them a try?
