My daughter has recurrent yeast infections. She is having trouble getting rid of one as we speak. The Monistat isn’t working. Diflucan has a major interaction with the Plaquenil.
She needs to go see her Dr to find what the cause is or go to the ER!!
Also if she is married he will need to be treated also because they will keep giving it back and forth to each other!!!
I take diflucan if I get an infection and I take plaquinil everyday and I’ve been fine so I’m not sure what u mean by and interaction between those two meds
Because both medications may prolong the QT interval, the two together increase the risk, hence the caution. Although many people tolerate the combination, if another option is available, it is best to go with less risk. There are more topical agents that can be prescribed. If the topicals aren’t working, make sure a wet prep demonstrates yeast and not another etiology for symptoms. Although a diluted vinegar solution can be helpful externally, not a good idea to use it intravaginally.
@A MyLupusTeam Member both of those meds cause a prolongation of the QT in Heart rhythms. The two meds together are contraindicated to use together. They recommended against it. I’m glad to know you dont have issues using them together. Great news.
Has she tried Canesten?
