Hello, does anyone take Cell Cept? If so, how long have you been on it and/or how long did it take to be completely off the medication? I've been taking since getting diagnosed. It's been 3yrs now. I've started at 60mg and am now down to 20mg. Originally, I was on them because my Kidneys were affected. However, now I am being weaned off.

I have been on 3000mg of Cell Cept for 4 years. A couple years ago my doc lowered the dose but my body needed the full dose. I haven’t thought about being medication free, I just assumed that I would be on it for the duration. Kinda like insulin to a diabetic

I take 500mg three times a day! And have been on it for 4 years the first time! Then I did benlista( sorry if spelled wrong) which only made me worse as my lupus rejected it!
Then I went back on cellcept! And that has been for 3years now I have never been weaned! I have had to stop taking during surgery recovery and for cold and flus!
If I don’t take it my body seems to gradually stop working! But the crazy part is the brand/ manufacturer of the cellcet pills I take matters! I have tried almost all the brands on the market and I just recently started taking the brand name pill because the generic version my body liked was not available anymore! It took about 3weeks for my body to accept the new brand!

Diagnosed in 2000 and just recently stopped using cellcept after using for over 10yrs.Was stopped because of low WBC (1.9) but no continuous flares. Have not felt any different since stopping.

I’m no professional, but I have used both. I’ve been diagnosed with lupus for 7 years going on 8. When i first got diagnosed it was severe literally death knocking at my door. My chemotherapy treatment was cytoxan. I did it for 6 months once per month. I was told that it will kill, and slow down the rate that my white cells was developing at. In return if The less white cells I had the less there is to attack. After this I did go into a partial remission and I’ve been on cellcept ever since. Cellcept suppresses your immune system. It stops the white cells from multiplying. Basically they are both immune suppressants. The cytoxan or “IV chemotherapy” is used only in severe cases where it needs to destroy or slow your immune system so it stops attacking itself. The chemo pill aka Cellcept is basically managing or keeping ur lupus stable from flaring . Am not a professional but this is my understanding I’ve collected over the years based on my experiences.
