Anyone have thyroid issues due to lupus? Since my illness started my TSH has more than halved and is now borderline under active. I feel this may be contributing to the fatigue and weight gain but doctors won’t treat me until I am well below the normal range.

Lupus is a connective tissue disease of autoimmune origin that can affect many different systems in the body. Studies have shown that there is no significant association between lupus and thyroid disease; however, people with lupus are more prone to have subclinical hypothyroidism and thyroid antibodies in their bodies.
God bless us all for a cure in all illnesses.

Oh yes, I have been on synthroid for a while now. I take 100 one day and 88 they other day. Unfortunately it’s a part of lupus. You will feel better when you are on medication, I did.

Good morning. I have underactive thyroid for the past 20 years but only got diagnosed with lupus last year so I am not sure if they are connected.. I also like to know iif there is any connection with the both.

@A MyLupusTeam Member I would go get a second opinion especially about the mass on your thyroid. You have a lot going on. Sometimes when there is a lot, the doctors want to pull back on treatment options and wait because they don’t know what to do. Find someone who is willing to help you. Good luck!

My thyroid was in the “normal “range but extremely low I luckily had a Doctor Who looked at all my symptoms and not just the numbers and put me on Synthroid it it made a difference for me. It was 10 years ago This was 10 years ago
