Hives

Hives

Broken out in hives today whilst out walking the dogs. They start on my thighs and spread towards my back, waist, legs and buttocks. Has anyone else experienced this? The itching was intolerable and made me want to vomit. I take an antihistamine daily as I’ve had this before but nothing seems to be helping.

Praying for you. Call your rheumatologist, he can help. Try Benadryl by mouth and Cortizone 10 or Hydrocortisone cream!

Thank you all for replying. My son visits and loves to go for long walks. I get so itchy just as described and uncomfortable. Because I look okay, i don’t think he and his girlfriend believe this. Liquid Benadryl, hot bath and anti-itch cream bring me back to normal. Never heard of Tumid Lupus.

Have ever tried taking a warm bath and soak in a tub or something? Just to preoccupy ur skin with another activity than the itching and scratching the itch?

Yes. I have Stephens Johnson syndrome. Start a prescription, it works great and then after being on it for a few months I break out in hives because I become “allergic” to the drug. Nothing stops it except stopping the drug. Antihistamines help but doesn’t resolve. Sun exacerbates it. Some drugs can also cause this type of sun sensitivity. Don’t wait to long if antihistamines don’t work, whether they are over the counter or prescription, don’t wait too long to get medical help.
Take care!

Being outside in daylight brings mine on. I’m either covered head to toe or in shade. No amount of sunscreen helps or hats

I get them on my scalp as well

Dermatologist can give you cream to help with itch. Don’t scratch makes it worse
