It always seems to be hours after I have gotten home from an appointment that I have all these questions come to mind lol. When the nurse came in a few of the first things she said (after pointing out how terrible I look lol) was “Why are your eyes so dilated?” Uhhh idk? You tell me ..... I have major eye issues so I’m not that surprised, but why would that be? I also had a resting heart rate of 104. She once again asked me why... uhhhhh???? And then with the doctor we talked about my tremors… read more
I save every new symptom and questions in my notes on my phone. Sometimes the appointments go by fast, they’re throwing so much info at you or you just have plain old brain fog that you can’t remember the things you want to say
I think it's odd that the nurse behaved that way. As a medical assistant, if I had found that a patient looked unwell, had a rapid heart rate and dilated eyes as you did, I would have simply recorded it and spoke to the physician if I was concerned. Strange that she asked you why! I would mention that to my physician, because that is not professional. On the questions you forgot you ask, I always did the same thing so I started making a list on my phone that I add to any time something new comes up and go over the list with my Dr. at my next appointment.
As a nurse, please get a picket notebook and write down questions you have to ask, write down their answers. Keep it simple and don’t overload yourself or medical team with questions all at one time. Do research on the signs and symptoms you’re having and present them to the team. Most of all your Lupus family here we are available for support , answer questions and help one another.
Prayers . Have a blessed day. Hopefully this is helpful , friend ❤️
You are sweet to say that.... is there someone who can go with you to be an advocate for you? I know you are concerned to involve your mom and dad because you don’t want to have them worry so. But sometimes moms And dads need to DO for their children and then they don’t feel so helpless. Especially when there is not much else they can do. Better than sitting and worrying 😕. Think about it.. Or do you have a close friend? Even having someone else work on the insurance and MVD and other paperwork stuff would take some pressure off you and help conserve your energy..
take care my friend.. hugs 🤗
I’d get a second opinion and different doctor! Seriously!!?? You are there to get answers and have a TEAM of people to help you get those answers! Not ask you for the answers!
Whoa... as a nurse myself it just boils my blood to hear when a nurse treats you as she did. And to get no where with your doctor?
I had to switch doctors because of the way I was treated. It was hard because I did not want to ‘offend’ anyone. But it came down to having to advocate for myself.. I went to a new partner in the practice who was younger, less experience but boy he knew his stuff and knew how to treat people too. Got me going in a better direction. I cannot predict that will happen for you but it would be worth a try.
We struggled enough just be diagnosed in the first place! Don’t need this kind of crap too...
Best of all for you girl! Rooting for you!🤗🤗
