Several years ago I started taking voice lessons that I absolutely loved! Then suddenly my vocal chords started swelling and I got diagnosed. Does this happen to anyone else? I lose my voice randomly or it becomes hoarse. I miss singing and was wondering if anyone who understands this also gives lessons? Thank you!!

I have sjogren’s and it makes my throat sore, not the inner throat we typically think of as the glands area around the jaw. We have salivary glands all through there 🤪. I have very good results with Arnicare gel. Nothing else worked for me.

I can’t help you with suggestion for a vocal teacher but was amazed to find out that inflammation in that area are due to lupus after I got aspiration pneumonia. Makes sense that any connective tissue can be affected. I was helped with a speech therapist. Worth a try!

Yes, especially when I get run down... I could literally make someone at a drive thru say " is that all SIR?"

I have that too. I’m seeing a relationship to it when my chest is swollen my voice cuts out. I think for myself it’s a swelling issue. Once I take anti inflammatory it’s fine.
Maybe it’s the same for you ?

yes! You are the first one to mention that. It happens to me ! Both during flare ups an if I am trier. its almost like laryngitis without pain. My whole head seems to be effective by my lupus. Swelling, and sensitive to light.
