My doctor is running out of options. They have been down to zero and are now at 5. It's a bit worrying.

Hi
A low platelet count is dangerous and needs to be investigated . I had a platelet count of 10. My symptoms were bleeding gums and nose bleeds and bruising. I was diagnosed to have ITP and was prescribed steroids. After two years of being medicated the doctors decided to carryout surgery to remove my spleen and that resolved the low platelet count. Now with covid 19 being asplenic has made me CEV and have to shield. I am waiting for my covid vaccine. Hope my story helps 🙏

Thank you, I spent 6 weeks in hospital in 2018 because my count dropped to nil, they were still only 8 when they finally released me after trying every treatment they could think of. A splenectomy was suggested many years ago when I first had ITP but not this time. Stay safe

I've had massive amounts of steroids, intravenously and orally, Rituximab, chemotherapy, platelet infusion and I'm now on mycophenolate and Revolade. Nothing seems to work, I spent 6 weeks in hospital a couple of years ago when the 'experts' tried to sort me out but failed. I was just hoping that maybe something new was available .Thanks anyway Kim. Stay safe
