I’ve spoken to three doctors with varied options about lupus patients taking the Covid vaccine until further data is available. 2 of the three had serious reservations and one was rather lukewarm in her response. What has anyone’s experience been and what are docs saying ?
I’ve read of a few accounts of people with lupus dying after having the vaccine so I’m quite concerned.

Got my 1st shot yesterday. Sore arm headache and leg pain. Temp of 100.6 today. Just wonder what the 2nd one will bring. I was scared to even get one. But everyone is different. I had the Pfizer vaccine.

I’ve not heard of anyone with lupus dying from the vaccine. In fact I have not heard of *anyone* dying from the vaccine. There have a been a few cases of allergic reaction all of which were reversible.

There is a lot of disinformation online so please be careful about where you are getting info. Read the CDC website or medical journals citing proven studies. Do not get info from friends, Facebook or random websites.

We all have a fear of the unknown so anxiety over getting a new medication or vaccine is to be expected. I was stressed thanks to a history of weird reactions and random swelling but had no side effects at all with my 1st shot aside from a sore arm.

Lupus makes us very vulnerable to Covid. Unless your lupus doctor advises you not to get the vaccine for a specific medical reason, I would not hesitate to get vaccinated

I have had my first shot. Moderate reaction. I was very worried too. My
Doctor thought oh balance it was a good choice for me. I also have APS which apparently doesn’t mix well with COVID.

I haven't talked to my.rhuem yet but my pulmonologist (who knows of my autoimmune issues) told me to DEFINITELY get it. Now, I have asthma and it would be really bad for me to get covid. So, it probably depends on your particular case. I have also been told the johnson&johnson vaccine causes less flares because it is a different technology than the other ones, but I would go by what your rhuem says since they know your particular case best and can weigh the risks and benefits
