I'm 47 and my joint pains have increased. I'm also having ocular headaches like I did in my 20s. My rheum. doesn't think it is lupus related. My gyn wants to put me on some type of HRT, thinking that it might be more menopausal related. Has anyone found out that their symptoms were helped by HRT?

I'm also 47 and I started having ocular migraines and hot flashes recently. I talked to my ob/gyn and she also said it was most likely hormone related. She told me she wasn't comfortable with HRT with my lupus diagnosis. She told me she would feel much better putting me on a mild antidepressant which she said works to help with menopause/perimenopause symptoms and is safer for those of us with lupus and/or high blood pressure. I decided not to start for now but thought I would pass along another opinion.

Please do some research on more natural hormone replacement products. There are now many wonderful natural products you can use to help menopause symptoms. After my hysterectomy I went on HRT for a short while and it made me feel awful so I did research and used a product with wild yam and some other ingredients in it. Man made hormones are not the end all answer to all problems. If you do decide on HRT I would suggest you research all the ones which are available and choose the most benign one you can find.

Hi! I know this is an older post, but for anyone else in this situation... I would talk to my rheumatologist before going on HRT. I've been told by both my ob/gyn and my rheumatologist that HRT is not recommended for lupus patients due to an increased risk for blood clots.

I don't have those symptoms but I'm on a HRT. I pray that the doctors can find out what is going on with you. Stay safe๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ’œ
