Hello I was diagnosed with lupus in October 2020 through blood work which I was positive for A. N. A. I was also tested for Rheumatoid factor which was negative. I was subsequently diagnosed specially with SLE. My first Rheumatologist was very inept and was giving me contradictory advice and information. I took plaquenil for 2 months but I had no improvement and I had severe stomach pain so he told me to stop taking it and offered no other treatment or anything and I was at my worst pain level… read more
Maybe try a Lupus clinic or Lupus foundation for a rhuematologist
Was your dsDNA positive? I believe many doctors go by this dsDNA that is specific for Lupus. I’m kinda in the same boat as you. My first labs were positive for dsDNA and ANA but second labs came back negative for dsDNA but still high positive for ANA. Having a positive ANA can mean a lot of autoimmune diseases and many of them have the same symptoms and turn into crossovers and then it’s really hard to diagnose. Steroids are the usual first form of treatment to all these autoimmune diseases. Did your Dr. do the AVISE test thru Exagen lab? it’s a special lab in California for lupus, They send your blood there. A lot of Rheumatologists use this specific lab called and it’s considered golden in the help of diagnosis of Lupus. Also I’m not sure if dsDNA can fluctuate from normal to positive but the best time to do bloodwork is probably when you’re feeling your worst.
Well I feel you my rheumatology said I had fibromyalgia and I said no I too was.positive for ANA anticoagulant antiphoslipid which clotting blood. So I can only take the brand plaquenil no generic it gave me stomach.pains unbearable. I suggest a.lupus specialist there are at duke health if you near there go see one. Also look in your state for lupus.specialist or contact lupus foundation medical advice. They will tell you. Love you hang In There
Ohh goodness it's really just gotten worse for me.. I found a doctor at the Rheumatology institute where I live and so they seemed like they were going to be promising like it was actually going to get help and they tested me for everything and I was positive ANA positive DSDNA negative all the other ones all the RA and all the tests for all the other autoimmune diseases and so she had an appointment with me yesterday to go over my labs and she basically said she was upping my chemo and then out of the other side of her mouth she said that the anxiety that I have from the pain I need to go to my psychiatrist and I probably having pain due to obesity which I gained weight because of prednisone she didn't even address that I am pre diabetic because of the prednisone so basically she said I'm a nutcase that's obese and to up my chemo injections so they just hand chemo treatments to anyone?? I just I give up on them I don't even want to go to another rheumatologist.. and I weigh 200 pounds and 50 of it gained in the last 6 months due to Prednisone which is the only thing that controls my inflammation and relieves the pain.. so I just feel hopeless sometimes because of these doctors and how poorly they treat us.. and yes I agree so very lonely and we appear so healthy and so no one understands unless they are living this nightmare disease.. but feel free to ask anything.. I have done alot of research in my down time as I'm sure you do too.. we have to be our own advocate for our treatment and always remember the doctors work for us and if they're inadequate.. fire them and get a new one.. we don't have to put up with this 🤗
Ok sounds like you need a Lupus clinic check for one near you. At the time of pain it could have been a flare. But please research a Lupus center.
