I've been on 200mg of plaquenil for 6 months but haven't noticed a change. My rheum says that I shouldn't take a higher dose because the higher doses are for higher weights, is that true? I only weigh 103 pounds, so she says that 200mg is the right dose for me.
She thinks I should add Imuran in a low dose. Does that sound like a reasonable next step, or should I be on a higher dose of Plaquenil first?

I started on 400 mg for about 2 years until my symtotms were under control. I them dropped down to 200 mg and have been on 200 for the last 8 years.
That sounds like the right dose fit your weight. Raising it can cause more toxicity and be counterproductive
Is you diagnosis confirmed? Sometimes doctor start Plaquenil to see if a patient sees a change....and often uses that to determine if the problem is truly lupus/autoimmune in nature
6 months should be enough to notice a change for the better if it was going to work. It might not be at max efficiency at 6 months but it should be doing something
Plaquenil is not a cure all. It does not treat all symptoms of lupus. My doctor says it takes the edge off some symptoms and helps protect the internal organs from inflammation. It can make life a little more tolerable. Perhaps some people feel great with it but for others it just turns down the volume a bit.
I know i'm late here but yes my reum says the same thing.
Love your dog's hair....she's gorgeous!
