I am currenty taking plaquenil for Lupus. I still get breakthrough rashes being on this medicine. I just started taking predisone again. I was curious what other meidcations peole take to control their symtpoms. I known plaquenil is the mainstay of thr diesase but there has to be something else that can keep the rashes at bay. Please help.

There is Methotrexate, Benlysta IV infusion or SubQ injection, Imuran, CellCept and as a very last resort sometimes they will use Cytoxan.
The less you can get away with the better it is. Hope you find this useful, but make sure you judge risk vs. benefit with your doctor before starting.

I know that some people are on an immunosuppressant (methotrexate, injections) talk to your provider and ask him if he thinks it will help
