Hello, I am curious if any others have had a movement disorder diagnosis along with lupus. I have developed what my neurologist is describing as "tics" since I have a sensation that comes before them and when I try to suppress the movement, which is most often a head twist or shoulder shrug, it gets worse. I am currently a patient at UC Davis' movement disorder clinic trying to figure out the cause my tics. Of course the doctors want to test for everything before they conclude that it is… read more

I have what are called essential tremors. Sounds earth shattering but it is like fluttering in my hands, my arms, lying down my legs jerk and my feet cramp horribly. Its worse when I stand so I'm careful not to get too tired. I have a rollator so I can sit on that or I grab a riding cart in the stores. Oh and I have head shakes and neck twists too. My docs basically said learn to live with it. Maybe because its new for you they have something you can get some relief.

I’m so glad I finally found this question. @A MyLupusTeam Member, do you mind sharing what meds you were on that caused it?

I started having tics about a year after I was diagnosed w lupus. They have progressed to a variety of motor and vocal tics. I’ve seen a variety of doctors and all they recommended besides additional daily meds was a form of physical therapy for management of the tics— CBIT. It has helped, but they’re still there and really come out when I’m stressed or having a flare. I’m wondering if mine could also be due to medication. I’ll talk to my doctors about this.
