Has anyone ever experienced low blood glucose (sugar) levels?
I'm on prednisone (and more) With steroids you usually see high blood glucose levels. Mine are, and have been in the last year or so. They have ranged around 70, but as low as 46. These are non fasting levels.
I eat several small meals a day. Avoid sweets, processed and eat very little red meat.
Any ideas?
FYI- often hypoglycemia episodes happen for a few years before type two diabetes happens. It is important to monitor often, not over correct with too much carb or sugar. It might be a good idea to meet with an endocrinologist and have more tests done to see if anything else is going on with your pancreas. When you eat be aware of how much carb you are eating and be sure to have a healthy fat and a protein with it to stabilize the blood sugar and avoid spikes and dips in the level. Did you know for example that a bagel has way more carb than a donut? They have apps and things that can help with meal and snack planning on the go. Best of luck.
Thank you all! I eat a very healthy diet, low carb, high protein and several small meals a day. Looking back over my labs, this has happened on and off over the last five years, but only recently has it been constant.
I am going to see endo.
I am hypoglycemic and can drop low too. Good to eat a 15 carb snack and juice, wait a bit and check again. Also get some glucose tabs and keep those close by.π
I've add bread back to my diet. Now my blood sugar is normal. I'll keep you in my prayers π. Love and hugs
