We all know when we are entering a flare, but wanted to generate a list of very early signs, so people new to lupus can better predict and avoid the worst outcome.
I’m not talking about red zone, where a flare is inevitable, but the yellow zone.
How does your body ask you to back off (before it starts screaming)?
I have been paying attention lately and the signs are subtle, but there.
For me
Sore feet and lower back. Joints more stiff.
Fatigue….fatigue setting in QUICKLY

Mine is bone tired fatigue, mouth sores and then the pleurisy starts. If it's really bad and I can't inhale without pain I start on the Prednisone series.
First its being bone tired which is one step past fatigued. Usually triggered by stress or overdoing. If I just bull head through it's followed by rashes in some very interesting places followed by being starving but unable to keep anything down then a fever if I get to the fever there's no way to stop the flare. But if I hydrate, rest, modify my diet and just get away from stress I can usually turn a preflare around. Oh and I don't exercise or put any more stress on my body until I feel better
Sore, stiff feet, fatigue, reactions to foods, skin irritations. If I pay attention, rest a lot more, avoid stressors, keep up the bone broth, turmeric, ginger, garlic, coconut oil and exercise (but not pushing quite as hard) I get through without getting so sick or taking so long to recover. Winters have been worse for me. This is the first one since I started Hydroxychloroquine so I’m hoping the joint issues and fatigue go easier on me this winter. I had to stop all my herbs and binders to have tests done. It will be interesting when I start up in a couple weeks to see more clearly how my symptoms respond.
Like LalaS I start with problems concentrating, fatigue, but also mood swings or feeling overwhelmed by the most stupid stuff ever, and than the bowel problems and the joint pain start too.
When I see it coming I just slow down and rest. Thank goodness I can just stay at home and rest.
Regarding the yellow and red zones-I use it to describe my body/lupus activity
Green for go (live life)
Yellow-whoah….slow down…watch it
Red-hit the emergency brake, Too late to stop it
