If your lupus is quiet and calm. Do we need to take 2 tablets 200 mg of hydrocholoroquine everyday? What is your doctor opinion? My doctor told me keep talking it because it keeps the lupus down and inflammation. Thank you lupie family for the advice and helps always. Have a Blessed day..

I would love to take it but I am too scared. If my issues get worse, maybe I will try it again but I have retina problems which started before the lupus diagnosis so I don't take Plaquenil. Macula problems are no joke. I can easily go blind so my macula is checked every 6 months. One eye has been lasered so it wouldn't tear all the way into the retina and the other eye had to have cataract surgery so I could get good enough distance vision to drive but the pucker is behind both eyes. There are risks for cataract surgery when there is a macula pucker. One of the things the surgeon has to do if something goes wrong during cataract surgery is drain all the fluid out of the eye and replace it with some kind of saline solution and I am not looking forward to possibly that when the other eye has cataract surgery. I don't know everything that can go wrong but I know there is more. I cannot be online too long because of the blue light and optimalic migraines. I am so happy everybody else is happy with it though and hopefully it won't cause any retina issues for you in the long haul.

Hope you find answer Gen it’s frustrating sometimes with all the aches and pain can’t figure it out. I never take prednisone but I know can damage your bone if too much . Hugs to you ♥️

Yes it goes by weight and I take 1 1/2 a pill every other day. To be honest I read a lot of stuff about hydrochloroquine and it's not what people think will cause eye problem. My mother taking it for 20 years now and she have no glaucoma but she cataracts due to old age. I believe it doesn't really affect your eyes. I get a check once a year. My doctor told me people take hydro have less heart attack and eventually lived long life. It's good medicine which I believed him. I feel better since I started taking it last year. How are you feeling? My doctor said I have osteo arthritis because my left hand pinky have bump around the joint and that's where usually start but slowly.

I was on hydrochloroquine 2 200mg twice a day they have changed me to methotrexate 8 tablets once a week and 1 folic acid once a week. I am feeling better on methotrexate but it still doesn’t help with the pain and my hair loss is absolutely horrendous at the moment. Speak to your doctor and ask how much you should take you should also have regular blood test normally every 2 weeks for 3 months and then monthly afterwards. I hope this helps
