Hello lupie family and how are you all doing? Just curious how do we find out if we have more than one auto immune disease? Blood test? Just curious? How people know they have more than one or few. I wish you all a blessed evening and relaxing night. Hugs

I stumbled into mine. I had a stroke which led to antiphospholipid, my first diagnosis was Raynauds because of my circulation, lupus came after my stroke, secondary fibromyalgia came years later after the constant pain in the joints and other areas. My X-rays and scans eventually showed the degenerative disc disease. I think they just show up as you are constantly watched, assessed and labs are done.

I saw numerous doctors for 8 years and I always walked away thinking I must be crazy because not one of them could find a reason for my pain. It got so bad that I could barely walk. So, I made and appointment with a PA at my physician office that I had previously worked with. He looked through my health records and asked if I had ever had an ANA test or other testing for autoimmune disease as I already had type 1 diabetes and autoimmune thyroid disease. I had not had any other testing for autoimmune disease. He ordered testing, and while on vacation he called to let me know I had lupus and need to see a Rheumatologist asap as my ANA was super high, my rheumatoid factor was elevated, my c-reactive protein was elevated, and many other tests were abnormal. Here I am 11 years later, with a much better understanding of my condition and taking one day at a time. Lab work is your first step, which helps them determine if additional testing is required. Sometimes labs results hold a lot of information.
