Over the last few days, I feel like my right eyelid is sticking to my eye. It makes reading at night a little harder than in the daytime. My opthalmologist did mention that I have oily eyelids (blephartis), but it's not swelling or tearing like it was before. This is something different, but I continue to do a warm compress a few times a day to be safe. I have an appointment with my retina specialist next Monday and will definitely mention it to him. I am curious to know if anyone else has… read more

I also have Sjogrens and when they get really dry they feel gritty. In the morning they are so dry they are blurry. I take restasis and refresh eye drops. I have to put drops in in the middle of the night.

Yes, its not oily or greasy, it feels like its gooey. Hard to open my eyes like they are on a ratchet. I found an eye drop that seems to help. I use it twice a dry and it even helps with my allergy eyes. Ill look up the name and get back to you on it. Its Pataday.

I have had that sticky sensation too . The Ophthalmologist put me on Cequa for severe dry eyes. I use one drop in each eye twice a day as well as lubricant eye drops. He said that the Lupus plus the meds I am on make my eyes dryer. Also, doing close work like reading and concentrating on screens and puzzles make it worse. When we concentrate, we forget to blink enough to keep our eyes moist. I do notice that it is worse when I am reading or puzzling, so I try to remember to blink a few times every 10 minutes intentionally.I also use the moist warm compresses when I am home.

Sjogren's and Blepharitis are sister diseases to Lupus! I was told warm compress twice a day plus I use Systane Ultra lubricant eye drops at least 3 times a day!
Try not to rub (I have terrible allergies in April and May and I rub my eyes so much I made black and blue marks that have now gone away) . Use allergy meds too. Good luck, it's just another added job we have to do to preserve our health!! 😊
