Good morning. I started Benlysta injections 8 weeks ago. Started noticing changes at 6 weeks. Headache almost gone, overall pain reduction and more energy. Have been able to reduce prednisone to 2.5 mg. day. Reduced plaquenil to 200 mg. day from 400. Still on cellcept also. But for me Benlysta has been a miracle that I've been praying for. Thankfully I receive co pay assistance and I don't pay anything for it. Everyone is different as far as what works for them..I wish there was one miracle treatment that would work for everyone. I get IV with Benlysta every 4 weeks at my doctors office. It`s not too bad. Might feel a little tiredness after it like your getting chemotherapy feeling.

Hi MB, I have mixed emotions with Benlysta, but overall I’ve foumd it to be a good medication when used in conjunction with other therapies. First of all, the injections have to delivered from a specialty pharmacy, if you get approval. Next, they need to be refrigerated as well. I got infused with Benlysta shortly after it was approved, so the injections are the most convenient. For me, I get immediate improvement with energy and mobility. Also, my dsDNA drops to normal levels. However, the cost is something you will have to deal with. There are co-pay assistance programs through the Benlysta website, but if you have medicare, it’s harder to get help with assistance. I’m having another issue with my insurance even after the approval and payment problems, but that’s just my mistake. Finally, it doesn’t work for everyone. I guess we “hope for the best and expect the worse”. Good luck and I hope you find it a good medication. Let us know, I’m keeping a mental journal for people that use it. ❤️🙏✌️
