@A MyLupusTeam Member, I have been taking Benlysta, and it has been effective for me by helping to keep my kidney function stable in its current condition. Here is everything you need to know about it directly from the pharmaceutical website, including side effects. Please keep in mind that we all react to medications differently. Some people do better with the infusions than the injections, and vice versa. I take the injection.

Benlysta (belimumab) has been tried by many people with lupus, and experiences vary quite a bit. Over 4,300 MyLupusTeam members report taking it, so there's plenty of real-world insight to draw from!

Here's what some MyLupusTeam members have shared about it working well:

- "Benlysta worked really well for me. It takes a little time to get to strength, so a little patience goes a long way."
- "Benlysta infusions really helped with my joint pain and fatigue for a couple of years. It took about four months before I realized how well it was working."
- "I noticed a difference on my fourth treatment. I really feel much better since I've been taking Benlysta." On the flip side, some members found the side effects challenging:

- One member shared that infusions left them bedridden for two days, followed by a week of exhaustion. Switching to injections helped a little, but fatigue was still an issue.
- Another noted that injections increased fatigue but also brought positive changes in skin and joints.
- Some members experienced fewer side effects with injections but also noticed fewer benefits compared to infusions.

It's worth knowing that Benlysta can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to reach its full effect, so patience is key. Always keep your doctor in the loop about how you're feeling on it.
