I use to have such painful sores in my mouth. I tried all kinds of rinses. When my gynecologist said it could be herpes I immediately got relief with Valtrex. The other thing that helps me is the Maximum Strength Oral Gel. Gargling with strong salt water helped to; but did it often throughout the day. That's about the best ideas I've come up with. Ps. That Valtrex was a life changer for me!! Hope you get some relief for this. 💌

I used 4oz of water and a tablespoon of peroxide and gargle and rinse my mouth about 30 seconds. Rinse and for dry mouth Biotene rinse.

I have white sores on my tongue that come and go with flares. I had both my rheumatologist and my dentist look at them. During one flare, my dentist told me I had oral thrush which is common with Sjogren's Syndrome (which I have along with lupus). I'm sure it's caused by lupus as well since both autoimmune diseases share similar symptoms. The white sores do not hurt and they go away eventually. I was told to rinse 3x daily with antibacterial mouthwash, brush teeth after every meal, and try Biotene for dry mouth.

Just make sure you don't brush too hard if you have any inflammation in your gums. Try a waterpik / water flosser instead of flossing--it's less harsh. Gently brush your tongue. Ultimately, these symptoms should, in theory, be controlled by lupus meds since the underlying cause is the immune system. :( I am on Hydroxychloroquine, but it just isn't controlling my symptoms like it used to. I hope your sores go away! If you find anything that works, please share. :)
