Does anyone suffer from constipation? What do you do to correct it

I read a book a long time ago about constipation and lupus. The first rule is to get your intestinal Flora working again. With all the medication we take? It's no wonder the intestinal Flora goes wonky. I got on a real good product called Uqora. It's for UTI's but the product has so many good things in it that helps with the lupus, I just take it as a matter of course now. It's got probiotics, d-mandonase(sp?) and other things that have really helped with my stomach. Seriously. My intestinal Flora got balanced, along with acidophilus, and I don't have clogged tubes any more. That and really increased my water intake. More greens, salads and vegetables, and no problems in months. Chickory helps too. Cherries are real good as are dried apricots.

Hello Nadia,

Take a look on the post marketing reports and you will see this is not unusual. There are 2 different strengths of the medication and most start on the lower dose and go up as needed. If what used to happen in 20 –30 minutes after the pill is now taking a couple hours or not at all hugely affects the quality of your day. You doc knows best and if they want to take a look around it’s with good reason. There are other adjuncts available.

Don’t fear the scope… worst part is the prep. Once that’s done the procedure is just taking a nap….you will be home before you know it.

A few suggestions for the prep:

- Get baby wipes and some desitin. Your boo boo will be sore if you try using paper the whole time.
- Plan on being out of bed a few times after starting the prep. You will not get a great nights sleep. Pre- plan to make your morning easier…
- Wear loose clothing - think sweats.. it’ll make getting there and back home easier.
- You will sleep wonderfully when you get home…

Good luck and hope you get the answers and treatment plan to improve daily living!

Best regards,

Michael

When I had really bad constipation I used Ducolax fast relief suppositories. After I got going again I stayed regular with prune juice every other day. Make sure to drink lots of water on a daily basis.

I also agree with @A MyLupusTeam Member about getting tested as well. Especially if it's persistent.
