I find that simple fitness apps like Better Me keep me motivated and focused on continuing to exercise regularly. I was a gym buddy and dancer from the 90's and remained a highly athletic person until my diagnosis 2017. Was engaged in martial arts until 2012 which is probably when Lupus was making itself known. Now there are days when I can't manage a simple toe touch. Yoga type exercises work best because you can modify the movements to your capability-of-the-moment and still reap benefits. Swimming in a heated pool is #1 for me, though. Hugs and blessings.

Yes, starting with just a little and working your way up is the best way. If you can, walking is a good place to start, but chair exercise (like chair yoga, which you can find on youtube) is good. Studies show it really helps our fatigue, so stick with it! And I'm sorry to hear your lupus has gotten so bad, Jessica.

Lifestyles are different. You can do exercise sitting in a chair. You can do exercises whilst you are in bed before you go to sleep or on the floor like leg lifts, butt lifts, laying on your side and moving your leg back and forth and then changes sides. Arm strength u can stand and do circles with your arms along with stretching arms up and also fight cross with fists in front. It depends on what you can do and when,. Walking is very good even if u just do a track in your home. If you can work up to 30 minutes that is great. I did stair climbing also for 30 minutes a day working up to it. Just try not to do anything that is repetitive for very long switch it up. Taking a shower as hot as u can stand the water before you exercise will loosen up your muscles or after exercising will help with any pain if u over do it. I'm 61 and have been doing aerobics, walking, stairs since my kids were born in the 80's. I am pretty sure if I did not do daily walks and aerobics etc I would not be moving now. The big thing is do not over do and rest most of all repetitive actions will cause pain so take it slowly. Go gung ho and u end up not do much like start in a chair or bed. I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL so ask your medical peeps if it is ok for u to exercise and what to avoid. I only know from what I have done. I find it is less stressful for me when exercising to listen to music with earbuds to block everything out and I actually used to really enjoy it. I have severe scary end life Lupus and heart stuff now so can't exercise but I know if I didn't up until I couldn't I would be in worse shape. You can keep a notebook with each exercise type you do and for how long each day and if u can write down how each one effects you that is good as u will know what your body can or not tolerate. I really hope this helps ; )
