PsA Differences In Lipid Panel

A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭

When in March my levels were perfect. Now that I am in the height of a massive flare, they are all over the place. I’m in between finding the right combination but the rest of my blood work came back normal besides my Calcium being high. Usually I tend to have high blood cell counts and white blood cell counts but they are normal at the moment. It’s so confusing and frustrating at the moment because my primary doesn’t know as much as my rheumatologist.

I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that! I was born with alpha thalassemia so my numbers with blood cell counts are never right or where they are supposed to be but my thyroid function is perfect and I’m just now getting more diagnoses as I see my rheumatologist. Today, I found out that also have the beginning of ankylosing spondylitis, and Anti phospholipid syndrome. With my google doctor research as I call it 🤣 I found studies where Alpha thalassemia was linked to Anti Phospholipid syndrome. It’s all overwhelming. I tell them about the pain I’m having since my body is riddled with arthritis and all they give me is new shots to try. So this time we are going to try Cosentyx since I had a bad reaction to Enbrel and I’m boarder line SLE. Also cancer runs in my family and I want nothing to do with those black label warnings 😅

High calcium , low vit d and high Pth hormone turned out to be primary hyperparathyroidism. I've had surgery 2 times for it. They have to do all tests same blood draw

Not yet, hopefully he can explain on Wednesday, or my rheumatologist should be able to explain 💕

It's good most of your labs are normal, Morgan! Does your doc have an explanation for the high calcium?
