I was diagnosed with lupus when I was 49 yrs old the doctor told me that most wanted my family and on my Dad's side I have a very large family (my dad was #13 out of 15) and nobody on my dad's side was ever diagnosed with it and neither was my Mom also I didn't have any signs of being sick with anything when I lived in Michigan and in less than 18 months I ended up being diagnosed with it UGH
A physician friend of mine was diagnosed at age 45.
Hi,
I was mid 40’s when finally diagnosed, but had been symptomatic for about ten years.
I moved to Duluth in 2012 until then lived in lower Michigan Oakland County
Pontiac/Waterford area
I was diagnosed at 49, as well. Likely have had it for 10+ years, but changed PCP's when I was 47 and my new one pursued abnormal bloodwork. I didn't realize the lupus symptoms I had weren't 'normal' and have no family members with auto-immune issues. I live in Michigan, too!
It really wasn't because it did not show up in my lungs. It was just n my skin and muscle at least that is what I was told by the first doctor who wrote a book on sarcoidosis. I was treat back then in 1993 with plaquenil and prednisone. I often wonder if it was Lupus back then.
