I have read about many food triggers online. Do certain foods trigger your lupus? What should we avoid being newly diagnosed?

Per one of the leading experts, Michelle Petri, MD, at Hopkins, garlic is a trigger. There's no standard diet for lupus per se, but a Mediterranean or whole-food plant-based diet is suggested. Some experts believe plant-based is the least inflammatory, partly because dairy contains casein, an inflammatory protein. I and others have written more about this. Some of us, including me, have found a vegan diet helpful, and some have even gone into remission on it.

Best wishes to your daughter!
