My lab results indicated that my inflammation went from 25 to 8 as a result my doc reduced my prednisone from 5 mg to 2.5 and will be taking that dosage for 3 weeks. First few days was rough. Any thoughts?

Yes, some people have reported difficulties when stopping medications for lupus. Here are a few examples:

- Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil): Some individuals experienced withdrawal symptoms like diarrhea, joint aches, random pains, and itchiness when stopping hydroxychloroquine abruptly. It's generally recommended to taper off the medication under a doctor's guidance to avoid such issues and potential lupus flares.

- Belimumab (Benlysta): Stopping belimumab suddenly can lead to withdrawal effects and increased lupus symptoms. A small study showed higher rates of flares and more severe symptoms in people who stopped treatment abruptly. It's advised to discuss a safe tapering plan with a healthcare provider.

Always consult with a healthcare professional before making any changes to your medication regimen.

Yes I am having a bit of trouble. Was put on different medication about year ago. With 5mg and told I can go to 10mg if needed if Prednisone. I kept flaring on 5mg. Would settle on 10mg unless I had a stressful situation then I had to go to 25mg and come back down. I see my rheumatologist in September with test results and to see how all is going.
So will have to wait to see what he recons.
But yeah. Changing meds is challenging.🦋💜

I would ask your nurse practioner or your pharmacist. They should have some answers for you. It will probably get better in time. My nurse took me off of Meloxican and substituted with Extra strength Tylenol !!! How about that? Lol
