I went to doctors, my rheumatologist, dentist...they all finally concluded that that's what I was. By process of elimination..I was also diagnosed with Sjogrens. It's like a burning sensation...can be very painful...I do use a mouth wash daily. Unfortunately, it still presents itself too often
I’ve had burning mouth syndrome for over 15 years. It took years for my doctor to diagnose it, I went to my dentist for a normal check up and he was the one that figured it out. I had asked him to be gentle when I went in because I was having mouth/tongue pain really bad. He asked me more about my pain, excused himself then came back 5 minutes later with a handful of paper and said he had researched my symptoms on the internet and thought I had BMS. When I got home I read the information and was shocked how it described everything I’d been going through. There’s no cure but at least I felt better finding a name for my pain and that I wasn’t going crazy! Within a few months I started feeling horrible and was diagnosed with lupus and neuropathy. Because of my neuropathy I take medication for my nerve pain and it has helped my mouth so much! It still hurts 24/7 but the pain is doable. When it’s really bad I use the Magic Mouthwash which pretty much numbs the mouth for a bit so you can fall asleep easier. Lupus plays havoc on the body, I pray all the time none of my children inherit this horrible disease.
My dentist prescribed my Magic Mouthwash, but the pharmacies around here don't have the ingredients. Good luck and sending Hugs your way.
I use Biotene mouth rinse and it has a bit of a numbing effect for me but doesn't for other people I've talked to. It helps some for dry mouth also. The burning is so mentally exhausting too at times, I hope you find something to help you. Hugs
Sugar-free hard candies also help to stimulate some saliva production.
I have this too, Dont. Drinking water frequently helps!
