I have more trouble going down stairs than up. But there's a lot of times, my knees just feel like there going to give out.

Steroids make our muscles very weak, and joint pain/swelling (arthritis) and muscle pain from lupus all contribute to this.

If anyone notices a sudden onset of weakness far worse than usual, please be seen IMMEDIATELY. Rarely, we can get inflammation of the spinal cord (transverse myelitis) that can cause sudden weakness.

Yes, sometimes. I started doing chair yoga and my old physical therapy exercises to strengthen my legs. There was a time that my legs were so weak that I shuffled when I walked and I had to relearn how to walk heel to toe. It's was amazing to find the difference in how it forced me to use my muscles more. You can find some helpful chair yoga exercises for people with arthritis on YouTube.
