I have been taking Plaquenil 400 mg daily for 2 years but after coming off an 18 month tapered course of Prednisone, for the last month I have had nausea, lack of appetite, dizziness, headache and double vision in addition to Increased muscle and joint pain. Has anyone else experienced this?
Vicki, some of your symptoms (nausea, loss of appetite, dizziness) are very likely due to your body adapting to the hormonal changes off prednisone, as our adrenal glands get suppressed when taking it. Our adrenal glands produce cortisol, which is a natural steroid, like prednisone, and they reduce their output when we're taking steroid pills.
Those symptoms should improve over time. Hopefully, extra rest and plenty of TLC will help resolve the mild flare you're describing with the muscle and joint pain. 😘

I am hoping to come off prednisone now that I’m taking Benlysta but that scares me your response to no prednisone. Hopefully it is just an adjustment period and the symptoms won’t last. ❤️
