My sister has had lupus for almost 30 years, and she has constant sinus drainage, a sore throat, swollen glands, and her chest hurts a lot of the time. Her PCP sent to an ENT, which did no good. None of the nasal sprays worked. She takes a Claritin every day. My question is, would it be better for her to see an allergist or a rheumatologist? Thank you.
Thank you, Julie!! ๐
With the specialization of physicians now you have a. Dr. For everything. Having had Lupus for over 17 years my rheumatologist and PCP are my constants. ENT..allergist..pulmonary ( on oxygen since Covid and asthma) dermatologist.. infectious Disease.. they list goes on. I am in Ohio near Cleveland but I prefer local doctors that get to no all of me. There is a lot of trial and oops over time. My faith is my hope and my future. Having been an RN for over 40 years it still is different when you are the patient. Went into Complete Heart Block 2 years ago so add hypertension and a pacemaker. But you keep moving. This is the only life you have this side of Heaven...make the most of it.
Thank you so much! Weโll try that. ๐
Laurie, sometimes switching antihistamines is helpful, as some of my patients have found. She may want to try Allegra instead of Claritin.
Thanks, Julie!
