Yes, lupus can have periods of high disease activity followed by times of low activity, and then return to high activity. This pattern is known as flares and remissions. It's important to monitor symptoms and work with your healthcare provider to manage the disease effectively.

"I had lupus when I was a teenager. I had high proteinuria, my kidneys weren't functioning well, and depressive symptoms. Then I had numerous crises between 20 and 29 years old; only at that age was I diagnosed. I had significant kidney failure with very severe edema. I fought for a long time, then I had my daughter and it was complicated but cortisone and Imuran treatment helped me. Ten years after the diagnosis, I relapsed into depression. After that, I had about a dozen quiet years but since menopause and COVID, I have many symptoms that I didn't have before. I am on Plaquenil and fortunately have moments of relief. But I can no longer work because I was really exhausted."

I've been sick my whole life and am pretty much house bound and in bed a lot...I've had times of feeling better, but not longer than several weeks. I also have Lyme and numerous other things so it seems I'm just never well. May God be with you!
