My test results came back positive. I had difficulty getting out of a chair and forget getting off the floor in any way. The swollen hands and very weak thigh muscles sent me to a rheumatologist. After starting hydroxychloriquin, things got better. I'm on the highest dose and things are becoming much worse. My sister noticed a lack of muscles in my legs. So, do I bring this up to my rheumatologist or is this something that's handled with physical therapy. Thank for any advice.

Muscle weakness is something that I struggle with too. I no longer have the strength I once had. Things have gotten more difficult as a result.
I hope you feel better Angie. I know this disease is beyond frustrating.

Angie, and at @A MyLupusTeam Member, myositis, muscle inflammation, can occur with lupus and blood tests including CK and aldolase help screen for this issue. If they are abnormal, further confirmatory testing is needed.

Steroids that we sometimes get also cause muscle weakness, FYI.

Please keep us posted!

Great suggestions, including the idea of P.T. from everyone. An underactive thyroid gland can also cause muscle weakness, too, so that's worth checking if not recently been done. Weakness can go with lupus, but if it's severe or there's been a drastic change, it's worth talking with your rheum about considering screening labs, including thyroid panel, CPK, and aldolase, I think.😘

I'm on medication for hypothyroid. I didn't know that, Niranjana, thanks. I will talk to my rheum because it's adjective my daily living.
