This ANA was negative, probably because of the Plaquenil. It did have positive AB detected though. I have had several positive ANA tests and this is the first negative test I've had in ages. I cannot remember the numbers on any of this. I am so confused anymore that I am embarrassed to try to talk. I can't remember what things are called half the time and have trouble understanding some things. This is a fairly new thing to go along with all the other symptoms. TIA guys 🙂

It sounds like you're dealing with a lot, and it's understandable to feel confused. Here's some information that might help clarify things:

It sounds like you're dealing with a lot, and it's understandable to feel confused. Here's some information that might help clarify things:

1. ANA Test: An antinuclear antibody (ANA) test checks for antibodies that attack the body's own tissues. A positive ANA test can indicate an autoimmune disorder, but it doesn't specify which one.

2. Positive AB Detected: If your ANA test detected positive antibodies (AB), it means there are antibodies present that could be related to an autoimmune condition.

3. Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine): This medication is often used to treat lupus and can affect ANA test results. It might be why your recent ANA test was negative.

4. Additional Tests: If you have a positive ANA test, your doctor might order further tests to narrow down the diagnosis, such as:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Urinalysis
- Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)
- Complement Levels

5. Consult Your Doctor: It's important to discuss your test results with your doctor. They can provide a detailed explanation and guide you through the next steps.

Remember, it's okay to feel overwhelmed. Your healthcare team is there to support you.

Also Melanieknapp, try to get to a urologist. They might help.

I have been told mine don't show positive normally either. I do sometimes show leukocytes on my UTI test. Are you going to a urologist? and have you had kids? They say my bladder is "tipped" because of having a child. Does it hurt or burn when you pee? I usually get Pyridium over the counter and take 2 to get the pain eased off. My nurse always gives me antibiotics. I am now on Macrobid antibiotics now every day. I'm so sorry I couldn't help you more.

Let's see here...My rheum said I have pre-lupus. He has run blood tests but didn't share the results. Thursday I got my blood tests back from my primary care and the CBC was almost 15,000. I can't remember the Sed rate. My bladder is constantly messed up. I am on antibiotics, Macrobid, every day. I have a UTI 3 weeks out of four every month. There's no need to mention about the pain. Every one of you know what I mean. This has been going on since the early 1990's. Meaning doctors believing I had Lupus but were waiting for the positive ANA. There is so much more but I can't think of everything right now.
