I can’t vacuum going back-and-forth with my arm and I can’t scrub going around in circles with my arm. I hurt in my shoulder so bad all the time sometimes I can’t even hold my phone. It hurts so bad. Is this a common thing with your dominant arm?

Tabby, muscle and soft tissue inflammation can cause weakness, as can steroids, which some of us take. Please have your shoulder examined by your doctor, though, as you may have something like a rotator cuff tear that's causing severe pain. I hope you get some relief soon.

Difficulty lifting your arm, even outside of a lupus flare, can be common due to lupus-related joint inflammation, muscle pain, or conditions like tendinitis or rotator cuff injuries. Lupus often affects the shoulders and upper arms, causing pain and weakness. Frozen shoulder or myositis (muscle inflammation) could also contribute. It's best to consult your doctor for evaluation and consider physical therapy to improve strength and mobility.

Yes! Physical stress is going to hit us all the more. Try giving your rheumatologist a call. Braces like the wrist ones mine gave me, and the compression gear you see rolling around the internet so much these days help. Knees, ankles, and wrist I've found pretty easily enough. The hand gloves are everywhere. For your shoulders, a simple sports style gauze wrap that isn't too tight? Don't want to cut off circulation, but, you want to keep those muscles back in their preferred tension for a while. I hope this helps.

That was common with me for a while. It would be in your best interest to give your pcp a call and see what's up, maybe changing your script can help? Forcing myself into pt has helped, at least as far as impact related activities go. I would recommend investing in products like Tigers balm, or some roll on muscle treatment. Just make sure to read the directions in regards to your shower routine while applying. It gets intense bruddah man. 🤣
