Used to be every 2 months, but as my symptoms have calmed down we've cut back to every 6 months. She's always available via her practice's online portal if I get sick or have increasing pain.
Ive had SLE since I was 10 years old and no one knew what was going on. I would never wish the disease on anyone else but this is not a disease you play around with. It's been challenging but I get through. It can be a painful disease when joints, and other areas become involved. Find an accredited reumstologist and see him/her every 3 months or sooner when things are active. Find a physician to follow you religiously.
I see mine every 3-4 months. If I am in a major flare or having other issues.
Because my husband has lupus nephritis and is on heavy medication, he sees his every 6 weeks to monitor labs (as well as his nephrologist) and make adjustments. But his doc also has a great portal and replies within 24-48hrs of msgs, so he gets a lot done by just shooting a msg (dose change, inquiry, referral)
