My nephrologist told me to take 1000 IU of vitamin D3 daily.
For people with lupus, maintaining adequate vitamin D levels is crucial for bone health and reducing inflammation. The recommended amount varies, but many sources suggest aiming for 600-800 IU daily for most adults. However, since lupus patients often avoid sunlight, they may need higher doses. People with autoimmune diseases often need more vitamin D but it is a fat soluble vitamin so it is also easier to over dose on. It’s a good idea to supplement for a while then retest and adjust how much you are taking based on where your levels are. I started with what would be 200% of the daily value and it wasn’t enough to hold my levels in a normal range so I bumped it up again.
My numbers are on a roller coaster. At this time I'm just good with the multivitamin
Yes I agree with this but the problem only seeing a rheumatologist every six months seems a long wait to find out if your levels are correct. I must find out from him how long it takes for the body to adjust to the prescribed dosage given. Thank you all for your feedback.
