Yes, many people with lupus experience this sensation! Several MyLupusTeam members have reported feeling like bugs are crawling underneath their skin. This is a type of skin sensation that can occur with lupus and is sometimes called paresthesia. The feeling isn't limited to just one area - it can happen on your scalp, face, mouth, nose, or other parts of your body.
This crawling sensation happens because your brain may be misinterpreting signals from your body. It's a type of tactile sensation that, while uncomfortable and distracting, is something that other lupus warriors experience too. If you're experiencing this sensation, it's important to discuss it with your healthcare provider, particularly your rheumatologist. They can help determine if it's related to your lupus activity and factor it into your treatment plan. Be sure to note any patterns you notice - like how long the sensation lasts or if it comes and goes in certain situations. This information can help your care team better understand and treat the underlying cause.

I often feel an itchy-crawly feeling on my skin. I hadn’t thought much about it until I saw your post. The previous post with the suggestion of B12 is help as I will begin B12 shots this week. We’ll have to compare notes after B12 treatment should you try this solution.

Carol, this can be an unusual symptom of neuropathy or a side effect of certain medications. Please see your doctor about it, as vitamin B12 and thyroid function are worth checking, too. Alcohol withdrawal in alcoholics can cause this sensation as well.
