During lupus flares, body aches and flu-like symptoms are common experiences. Many people with lupus report feeling muscle pain that can affect both arms and legs. One distinctive type of arm pain that some experience feels similar to having received a flu shot, with soreness that may radiate down the arm into the hand. These symptoms can last anywhere from a few hours to several days. Some warning signs to watch for include muscle spasms, numbness or tingling, sensitivity to touch, and pain that spreads to different areas. If you experience these symptoms along with neurological issues like double vision or balance problems, it's important to contact your healthcare provider. They can evaluate whether these symptoms are related to your lupus or if adjustments to your treatment plan are needed. If you experience arm pain combined with shortness of breath, chest discomfort, sweating, extreme fatigue, or a sense of "impending doom," seek emergency care immediately as these could be signs of a serious condition requiring immediate attention.

"Like having the flu" is exactly how I describe my flares!!! The swollen, achy joints never seem to actually go away 100% though.
