Blood vessel spasms, also known as vasculitis, can be a serious complication of lupus that requires proper medical attention. When vasculitis develops as a complication, keeping lupus under control with appropriate immune-suppressing treatments is key to managing the condition effectively.

Treatment options may include biologics (specialized DMARDs made from living cells) which target specific parts of the immune system and often have fewer side effects. In severe cases, plasmapheresis might be recommended - this process removes harmful antibodies by replacing some of the body's plasma with healthy plasma. It's crucial to work closely with your rheumatology team for consistent monitoring and treatment adjustments. They can determine the right level of immune-suppressing treatment needed to help manage both your lupus and vasculitis symptoms effectively. If symptoms are severe, they may recommend additional treatments or adjust your current medication plan.

Remember that stress can worsen symptoms, so incorporating stress management techniques into your daily routine may be helpful. Always inform your healthcare team about any new or worsening symptoms so they can adjust your treatment plan accordingly.

@A MyLupusTeam Member and @A MyLupusTeam Member So right now I'm home, let's see for how long. I'm just being realistic, like I was told by one male nurse at the Jewish Hospital I can acutely fall ill and collapse. I knew it all along! I'm glad I didn't stop advocating for myself, I need swift medical attention and I hope I'm getting it now. Please everyone, pray for me. My girls are convinced I'm dying, I love being their Mommy and would like to stick around a while longer if I may, for my kids💜

Hello @A MyLupusTeam Member💜,
I have been at the hospital since Thursday morning of last week. I was sent home on Tuesday the 1st of April with the orders to go to my PCP immediately in order to get an immediate referral to a Cardiologist, they said it would be highly advisable to get an admission to a clinic with a Cardiac Center. I did as I was told, but before I could make it to the hospital I fell ill at the supermarket 😞weakness, nausea, gait/balance problems. I was taken to the Jewish Hospital, a female Neurologist came and after a while she vanished again. After our meeting I was left alone with a low pulse and then both a low pulse and low 02 satiation. My friend Janina witnessed all this lasting for many hours. The next day I was wheeled to a room with an open door and left there with the information I'd be picked up and taken to the ECG department. I wound up napping in the wheelchair resting my head on my backpack I had on my lap in front of me. After that I was taken to the internal ward 2, where the woman at the desk was instantly upset about not receiving a call which could have informed her about my arrival. The situation was a mess, eventually I was wheeled to my temporary room. When I started feeling worse again I rang for the nurse. She came and electrically adjusted my bed then left. I wasn't improving so as I was told I rang again. Another nurse came and told me to breathe and something else. I had severe HYPOTENSION and Bradycardia but I was treated like a patient with a panic attack. I just lost it.😓 She told me she'd inform the Dr/male nurse, but no one came! Later I was giving vegetables, at least the carrots, potatoes and beans were glutenfree. I asked for another helping. While eating the second portion I grew acutely ill again. I rang for someone, anyone but was dismissed again. My friend Janina encouraged me to leave, which I did. I went home and was taken to the hospital I was supposed to be right from the start. They admitted me immediately, the monitoring revealed severe hypotension and severe bradycardia. Wow. My Pain Managment Dr, my PCP, all the female Dr's I had contact with at the DRK hospital in the German district of Mitte( the middle) urged me to have a pacemaker implanted asap. After the Gastroscopy on Thursday the 27th of March I was prepped for the Colonoscopy the following day but I developed severe nausea and severe hypotension, my pulse was 30-34 I believe to remember. I received fluids and electrolytes and was informed I wasn't allowed to go home. The Colonoscopy was finally done on Monday, after that I was closely observed till Tuesday afternoon.
