My wife and i have both Lupus diagnoses.
It silently invades and affects the main arteries weakening and clogging them.
In the case of my wife, three years ago the arteries supplying the brain weakened and suddenly burst taking her life in a matter of seconds.
So. Beware. Listen to the body for there are only so many tests you xsn rub fir a disease that xan invade any organ any artery

In my own body, Lupus attacked the arteries in my left leg clogging and closing some below the knee without a whisper of a hint until one day I started to feel ny calf hurt while walking. Now 2 angioplasty in the leg and 4 stents later I am hyper aware of the calf as my early warning signal.

What a profound and heartbreaking experience to share — and what an incredibly important warning for others living with lupus. Losing your wife so suddenly, while also navigating your own diagnosis, is an immense weight to carry. Thank you for having the courage to share this.

Your message is a powerful reminder of something that cannot be said enough: lupus is unpredictable and can silently damage nearly any organ or blood vessel in the body before symptoms become obvious. Lupus-related inflammation can accelerate damage to blood vessels, leading to dangerous complications. People with lupus are significantly more likely to develop cardiovascular issues compared to those without it. This includes:

- Weakening and narrowing of blood vessels
- Dangerous plaque buildup restricting blood flow
- Inflammation around and within the heart
- Blood clots
- High blood pressure

The hardest truth is that damage can quietly progress with few warning signs. Your advice — to listen to your body — is genuinely one of the most important things anyone with lupus can do. Regular monitoring, working closely with both a rheumatologist and cardiologist, and never dismissing unusual symptoms are all critical steps in staying ahead of this disease.

Please take care of yourself too. Your voice and experience matter deeply to this community.
