asking because the new treatment i will be starting recommends them both. i want to be cautious and do them to prevent any issue but i haven't got vaccines since having lupus, ive only gotten a tetanus shot. anyone who has gotten any were you fine after?
I got the newer 2-part shingles vaccination. My dr. failed to tell me the side effects that were possible. After getting part 1, I thought that I had Covid again. The flu-like symptons were bad. I could not get out of bed for a week.
The shingles vaccine is tough!!! However, I’ve heard from other Lupies that the actual disease is one of the most painful things they’ve endured (plus you have to stop lupus meds when you have it) so I think being out for 48 hours because of the vaccine is worth it.
@CathieSutphinVanzetti--FYI, we can still get shingles again even after having it once, so the vaccine is still recommended.
@MyLupusTeam users... thank you guys that made me feel better about getting them! i got the pneumonia yesterday and the shingles one today so i'm glad they are done with.
I’ve had both. I’ve had the Shingles 15 times and twice since the vaccine but they were much less severe. I’ve had the pneumonia vaccine as well and got pneumonia but it too was less bad. Totally worth it to me to have them cause it was much less pain and suffering.
