In the last five years up to now I find that I have issues showering. A shower which should be a simple task turns into this massive obstacle.
Note: My hygiene is still maintained.

I have had this same issue. My chronic pain is mainly in my neck/back and shoulders and I’ve found showering or anything with my arms over my head or me having to bend down cause simple tasks like that tend to take every bit of energy out of me. Same note: still maintaining hygiene but not without taking extra time compared to before just to give my body the breaks it needs.

Whew😩, boy I can relate,...I find that a shower 🚿 stool/chair which I had one built into my shower wall and a long African washing cloth along with a powerful detachable shower head 🚿makes showers on those rough days sooo much easier,....,..

I hope this helps 🥰✨️

Alivia, a shower chair can be really helpful, and I know the feeling of being too exhausted to safely shower, too. I have used the chair at times during flares. 😘

You're not alone in experiencing difficulties with showering. Many MyLupusTeam members report similar challenges, including painful pins-and-needles sensations when water hits their skin. This is a common experience for people with lupus due to increased skin and nerve sensitivity. Several factors can make showering challenging with lupus:

• Water temperature sensitivity
• Skin hypersensitivity to chemicals in soaps and shampoos
• Circulation issues that can cause tingling sensations
• Skin burning or stinging that may last for hours after showering

To make showering more comfortable, try:
• Using lukewarm water instead of hot
• Choosing gentle, fragrance-free products
• Applying a hypoallergenic moisturizer after showering
• Wearing compression socks to help with circulation
