I’ve diagnosed with SLE since November of 2021. Everyday I am extremely fatigued. My schedule at work is off SUN MONDAY and THURSDAY. I work work 4. 11 hour shifts, with an hour lunch break. Working only 2 consecutive days, TUESDAY WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY SATURDAY. My job is talking about changing to 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week. I know it’s the same amount of time at work, but it’s less down time away from work. Anyone experience anything like this or similar?
Thanks in advance.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), people with lupus have the right to request "reasonable accommodations" at work. This includes flexible work schedules that help manage fatigue and other symptoms. Your current schedule with built-in recovery days appears to be helping you manage your lupus symptoms, which is important to communicate to your employer. To request schedule accommodations:
- Document how your current schedule helps manage your lupus symptoms
- Get support from your healthcare provider about your needs
- Formally request accommodation through HR or your supervisor
- Be specific about how the proposed schedule change could impact your health
- Suggest your preferred schedule as a reasonable accommodation

Remember that fatigue is a major symptom of lupus, and managing your energy levels through appropriate scheduling is a valid accommodation request.
