Fungal nail infections can be a side effect of certain lupus medications, particularly biologic drugs that target the immune system. These infections may cause your nails to become thick and brittle, and you might notice white, green, yellow, or black discoloration. It's important to talk to your healthcare provider if you develop a fungal infection, as they can determine the best treatment plan based on your current lupus medications and overall health. They may refer you to a podiatrist (foot specialist) for specialized treatment of the infection.
